Paleontology is the study of the history of life on Earth as based on fossils. Fossils are the remains of plants, animals, fungi, bacteria, and single-celled living things that have been replaced by rock material or impressions of organisms preserved in rock. In short, paleontology is the study of what fossils tell us about the ecologies of the past, about evolution, and about our place, as humans, in the world. Paleontology incorporates knowledge from biology, geology, ecology, anthropology, archaeology, and even computer science to understand the processes that have led to the origination and eventual destruction of the different types of organisms since life arose. What is Paleontology? Paleontology is the scientific study of life in the geologic past, based on examination of fossilized remains of once living organisms, such as tracks, bones, teeth, plants, and shells.

The study of fossils is called paleontology and its great in understanding what the earth was like in the distant past and how life has changed through time. Fossilization also known as taphonomy is a process that occurs when plant and animals remain are preserved in sedimentary rock. Paleontology Is The Study Of Biogeography Is The Study Of Convergent And Divergent Evolution Convergent And Divergent Increases Genetic Variation Paleoclimatology is the study of past climates. Paleontologists cannot directly study the past climates, so they must rely on proxies. These proxies are indicative of certain aspects of the climate at the time, and when the data from multiple proxies are combined, an estimation of ancient climates can be made.

In the other case, the fossil is actually an impression. Paleontology, also spelled palaeontology or palæontology (/ ˌpeɪliɒnˈtɒlədʒi, ˌpæli -, - ən -/), is the scientific study of life that existed prior to, and sometimes including, the start of the Holocene Epoch (roughly 11,700 years before present). Paleontology is the study of the history of life on Earth. It focuses on fossils, which are the remains of plants, animals, and other living things that have been replaced by rock material or whose impressions have been preserved in rock. Paleontologists use fossil remains to understand different aspects of extinct and living organisms.
